Genius es una obra original de Brian Poli-Dixon, artista de raíces afroamericanas e italoamericanas cuyo trabajo ha sido comparado con el linaje de Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso, Carmen Herrera y Wifredo Lam. En Art Basel 2021 (Spectrum Miami) recibió el premio Best New Exhibitor.

Inspirada en la tradición neo-expresionista, la pieza presenta un busto coronado por la inscripción "GENIUS" en letras prominentes sobre una composición predominantemente roja. Los elementos de neón/LED en rojo y blanco resaltan la palabra y los contornos del rostro, creando un efecto de letrero luminoso que une el arte con la cultura urbana.

Como ex receptor de la NFL convertido en artista, Poli-Dixon traslada su disciplina atlética al lienzo: usa el color, las palabras y la emoción para contar historias y provocar conversación — al estilo de los griots de África Occidental.
